WORKING ALONE POLICY STATEMENT FOR CLIENTS
As a sole practitioner and female psychotherapist, I am committed to providing a safe, ethical, and supportive environment for all my clients.
To ensure both personal safety and the integrity of my practice while working alone, I have made the decision to offer therapy services exclusively to female clients. This policy is based on a comprehensive personal and professional risk assessment, not on bias or discrimination.
Working alone in private practice - often in isolated settings, client's houses, community settings or outside standard business hours - presents unique safety considerations. Limiting my client base to female-identifying individuals is one of several steps I take to reduce risk and maintain a secure therapeutic space.
This policy supports:
-
Safe and consistent boundaries in a sole-provider setting
-
Focused support for women’s mental health and well-being
-
Ethical compliance with professional standards and duty of care
I understand this may not suit everyone seeking therapy, and I am happy to provide referrals to qualified male or specialised therapists where appropriate.
Thank you for your understanding and respect for this practice guideline.
Sincerely,
Angela Dixon
