WELCOME TO CAOINE PSYCHOTHERAPY

Caoine is a psychotherapy practice dedicated to supporting women through life's most painful and transformative experiences.

The name 'Caoine' (kwee-nah) meaning 'cry' or 'lament' in Irish, honours the sacred act of grieving and reflects our belief that healing begins when our pain is acknowledged and given space.

At Caoine we offer a safe and brave space for women to speak openly about the issues they are experiencing. Whether your pain is fresh or long-held,we meet you with compassion, curiosity and acceptance.

Our sessions take place in a quiet, tranquil cottage setting surrounded by the natural stillness of the Irish landscape - a nurturing environment designed to soothe the nervous system and support deep emotional work through trauma-informed, integrative psychotherapy.

We walk beside each woman who enters our space, honouring her story, her survival and her strength.

LED WITH COMPASSION AND LIVED EXPERIENCE

At the heart of this practice is a therapist who knows the landscape of grief.
Angi has lived experience of suicide loss, is a former family carer supporting a loved one with a life limiting illness. She has first hand knowledge and experience navigating the challenges that come when advocating and supporting a loved one with a diagnosis while bringing up a family.

Grief can be scary, messy, isolating, overwhelming, chaotic and confusing, - we understand. Caoine helps women process their experiences,  regain a sense of self worth, safety and hope while fostering resilience - supported by a therapist with lived experience.

EXPERIENCE

With over 13 years of experience in community mental health, my work has been grounded in deep care, advocacy, and unwavering presence for individuals navigating some of life’s most challenging moments. I have walked alongside women at risk, supported those impacted by suicide - both in prevention and bereavement - and held space for adolescents struggling with self-harm. I have also worked closely with children facing the complex terrain of grief and loss.

My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and deeply human. Whether supporting individuals, families, or communities, my work centers on cultivating pathways to healing that honour the individual story while making space for the full range of human experience. I bring not just professional expertise, but also a profound belief in our capacity to survive, transform, and reconnect - with ourselves and with each other.

SPECIALISATION

My areas of expertise includes woman centered counselling, trauma, domestic sexual gender based violence (DSGBV) cohersive control (domestic/familial) addiction, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, suicide attempt recovery, suicide bereavment support, grief and loss. We are dedicated to helping women overcome obstacles and lead fulfilling lives.

APPROACH

At Caoine we combine an integrative woman centered counselling approach which focuses on the unique needs and experiences of women, often within a framework that acknowledges societal and systemic factors impacting their mental health. It emphasizes women's strengths, promotes empowerment, and utilises a bio/psycho/social approach, considering psychological, physical, social, cultural, and spiritual aspects of their lives.

VALUES

Compassion, empathy, and authenticity are at the core of our practice. We believe in creating a collaborative and empowering therapeutic relationship that promotes healing and growth.
